Although the plot and character development were slightly lacking, overall this movie had a good meaning behind it and kept the watcher enthralled throughout. The ending was a bit abrupt, and felt unresolved, the ending certainly left an impact on the class. I liked the movie very much, especially all of the literature references. I was a little bit upset that Robin Williams was not more present on-screen, but he did have a presence during the entire movie. The meaning behind the movie, to think for yourself and embrace your individualism, is a very good meaning to teach to people everywhere. Expressing and embracing your individualism, especially in the face of conformity, is a very valuable quality and trait to have. This movie repeatedly states that individuality is something very important, and does get the meaning across very well; both subtly and not. The movie also shows the difference and problems between being an individual and being an upstart.

I thought that the Dead Poets Society was a wonderful, deeply compelling movie. I loved all of it. I thought the setting at an all boys school was a very clever idea. One of the reasons I love this movie is because it shows you to always be true to who you are and what you want to do. The main character wanted to act in a play. His father had previously told him he couldn't be in one of the clubs he had belonged to at the school. When his dad found out that he had auditioned and got the part, he was furious. His overbearing father is easy to relate to for some people in my generation. I would definitely recommend this to every person my age. I absolutely loved this movie and the ending moved me. I was so emotional at the end of the movie because it was such a great plot twist. It was also a little expected, but still great.

This movie had a big impact on me. I got teary-eyed at the ending because it gave standing up for someone a whole new meaning. The boys were willing to jeopardize their education in order to give their teacher a proper and respectful goodbye. Even though they probably knew their actions wouldn't get him hired back, they had to do it anyway for dignity's sake. That's what everyone needs to do. If someone is being unfairly treated, we need to be able to stand up for them, even if we know it won't change anything. I highly recommend this film because there are tons of lessons to be taken from it. Besides standing up for people, Carpe Diem is another one. Sucking all the marrow out of life. I think that's so beautiful. You only have one life. Don't spend it sitting on the couch watching Netflix or surfing Instagram. DO something. Spend every minute of your life doing something that makes a difference because it could be your last.

I like how you mentioned how all the students knew that it wouldn't change anyone's mind, but they still stood up for him for "dignity's sake." I also agree that Carpe Diem is a beautiful theme to be taken out of this film.

The movie Dead Poet's Society, was meaningful, however I didn't really enjoy it overall. The movie impacted me by teaching me to stand up for what I believe. It also showed me to live every moment like it is my last. The Dead Poet's Society is an inspiring movie. One of the many themes was standing up for what you believe, which I think was the most inspiring to me. I think everyone should be able to stand up for what they believe. However, I would only recommend this movie to those people who need to learn how to stand up for themselves and others if they are being treated wrongly.

I agree, people that need to learn to stick up for themselves should watch this movie. It teaches them a good lesson on what that should do. Except for the part where the teacher and kid gets expelled for standing up. Every other part should be taught. Also your reply is only 111 words.

I really liked the movie Dead Poets Society. I've heard a lot about this movie in different classes, but I had never seen it. I was looking forward to finally getting to see this film. At first, it was hard to keep the characters straight, but eventually, I was able to tell them all apart. Mr. K's lesson on carpe diem did impact me. It was good to be reminded that we should make the most of each day and live life to the fullest. The movie not only taught us that, but also that we have to be careful with that saying. We can't use that as an excuse to do stupid and crazy things. It's meant to encourage us to make a difference and do something. Some of the characters got that a little confused. I was shocked when Neil pulled something out of the desk and sat there. I knew what was coming, but I didn't want it to happen. That led to Mr. K's removal which was also very shocking. He was a good teacher and meat a lot to his students. It was very cool to see his students standing up for him and giving him a “proper” good-bye. This movie was really good and I would definitely recommend it.

Although the movie was sad at times and the ending wasn't the best, I enjoyed the movie very much. I think the movie had a great meaning behind it. The movie gave a new meaning to standing up for somebody/what you believe in, individualism, and doing something with your life. This movie shows the students standing up for their teacher after he is fired. Even though some of the students were hesitant at first, most of the students ended up standing up for their teacher, even though they knew they would get in trouble and their teacher wouldn't be hired back. The movie also teaches that you should live in the moment, you can't relive yesterday and there are no promises that you will live tomorrow. Do something meaningful to you with your life. Not only does this movie show the importance of living in the moment and standing up for what you believe in, but also it shows the importance of individualism throughout the entire movie.

I actually really enjoyed the movie. I would have to say however that some of the plot isn't really given full explanation and some of the holes that are left after the conclusion are distracting. I however felt that the ending gave a lot of closure as to what happens even if it is an unfortunate one. Some of the characters wouldn't be developed until Neil's death, however I felt that for the most part all the important characters were really life like, showing their own range of emotions instead of a predicted pattern. I felt like the saying of Capre Diem is a good one and I would like to live my life to the fullest. I would recommend this movie to my friends if they have a few hours to kill. I would however only recommend it to people that want to see it and can grasp that its plot has some flaws in it.

I really enjoyed watching Dead Poets Society. The movie as a whole was really intriguing and did a good job at catching my attention. From the very beginning of he movie I got hooked and the movie just continued on to get even better. In the end of the movie when they stood up on tables for what they believed in, I found it to be very moving. It was inspirational and I could really see the emotion playing out. Although I wish the movie would have continued on a bit longer to show the reactions of the faculty, I believe that it still had a strong ending. In a way, it taught me that you should go for what you want, even when there are people against you. Throughout the movie this concept continued to come up and every it became more emotional for me to see them continuing to do what they want. This would be a movie that I would recommend to others but I know that if it wasn't for this class that I would have never watched it, even if was recommended.

I agree with the fact the ending was beyond powerful. It was a moving moment and I agree with the fact the boys stood up for what they believed in, even when others might've thought it wrong. I also think this is a good theme as you hinted at.

Up until the end of the movie, I really enjoyed Dead Poets Society. I loved that Mr. Keating stood apart from the rest of his fellow professors not only because of his age, but because he was teaching the students to think, rather than being mindless drones.

The movies meaning is a good one, but its not realistic I feel like in real life things would have ended different. But it still makes you love the characters and want to watch the grown. With the lost of a main character in my eyes is the climax, Everything that was unknown comes up and Mr. Keating is taking the blame for everything that has happen. At the end where the boys stand on the desk and say captain my captain shows how much respect they have for him as a teacher and there Captain.

Overall, I think the movie was amazing. It had a great plot and the fact that the boys got to express and show that they were different was very inspirational. The fact that it had Robin Williams and Robert Sean Leonard also made this movie even better to watch. The biggest theme impact was to be yourself, and to do what you love. I would also greatly recommend this movie because The Dead Poet's Society had a lot of great morals. Not only that, it was very amusing to watching the boys with their daily lives, and to watch them grow as young men. It had drama, but it had comedy and these types of movies always peak my interest. Again, this a movie I would highly recommend not just to my age group, but to the age groups all around.

I enjoyed the movie, but the ending was a little awkward- perhaps even ridiculous. Overall, I feel like the message in the movie is that we have limited time, and we should spend that time on the things we want to do, and the things we love rather than tedious, and meaningless work. I would definitely recommend this movie, although I doubt the person I recommend it to hasn't seen it.

This movie The Dead Poets Society was a great experience and inspiration to many people. This movie I think was very thought out on how they formed it. This movie had many impacts on me about it first of all it talked about poetry which we are learning right now. Second it really explains the true meaning of how the Dead Poets Society came into existence and how the boys in the movie gathered up and made it come back to life and feel the full experience of how Dead Poets acted on each other.

I greatly enjoyed the movie and it was emotionally inspiring. It compelled me to think more and to feel more. It showed how freedom is something we must enjoy for we don't know how or when it'll be taken away from us. The thing that had the most impact was the theme of " Carpe Diem", or seize the day. It showed how being bold for just a few seconds can really create great joy, but it also can create great sorry if you're too bold with your actions. I would openly recommend this film to anyone. It's very funny and full of life, it gives such a good them and is very inspiring.

Overall I enjoyed the film Dead Poets Society. While the beginning was a little slow, it turned out to be a very deep and somewhat inspiring movie. It depicted the idea of conformity and how dangerous that might be, as shown by Mr. Keating influencing the boys to break the norm. I liked how Mr. Keating encouraged the boys to think and really learn the topic, immersing themselves in the knowledge and taking something from it rather than studying it because they have to. I think that the theme of the movie revolved around this idea of not conforming to others, but rather becoming your own person. The movie shows you that it's good to think for yourself and be different rather than just carrying on like mindless drones. This had quite an impact on me and I'm sure it did to others as well. The reason why is because I see this idea of conformity every day. I think the movie shines and inspires because, like Mr. Keating encouraged his students, the movie encourages the audience to take some time and become their own person and to develop dreams and thoughts for themselves. Overall, I found Dead Poets Society to be meaningful and I'd recommend it to anyone. After all, it highlights what people now days sometimes ignore: it's okay to be different!

The movie, Dead Poets Society, was overall a great film. Although I wasn't hooked from the beginning on the story or characters, as the film went on I slowly got more and more hooked on how all of their individual stories were going to pan out. It didn't impact me much personally, but externally it got me thinking about how some people are so controlled by their parents to become a certain thing that they feel they can only be themselves if they are dead. The other scene that got me thinking is when the students stood up on their desk's for Mr. Keating to show him that they truly cared and were willing to risk their place in this school and face their parents just to prove how much he meant to them. The theme that really impacted me was "Carpe Diem." This saying was mentioned a lot throughout the film and really prompted all the characters to make the decisions they did. This makes me think about my own life and really analyze how I can put "Carpe Diem" into practice and make the most out of the present time. I would definitely recommend this movie to others.

I enjoyed the movie "Dead Poets Society" quite a bit. The impact it had on me is more a realization of how movies can have such an emotional impact on people. I did think that Neil's suicide was very sad, especially when his friends and family reacted to his death. By seeing this I realized that the way that movies and even books create an emotional reaction in the audience is by creating lots of emotion in the book or movie. I also realized that these emotional reactions by the characters make the movie seem more realistic. It shows that the characters are human just like the audience, and if it's okay for them to feel sad about a tragic event like this, then it's okay for the audience to feel sad too. The movie is about living life to the fullest, and doing what you love to do no matter what obstacles stand in your way. Overall I highly recommend this movie to others because it is well put together, and also teaches important life lessons to the audience.

Dead Poets Society was a very impelling type of movie. I found it kind of moving, now more because Robin Williams is no longer with us. Neil killed himself because he felt like he could not be who he wanted to be freely. Now we don’t know the exact reason why Robin Williams killed himself, maybe like Neil he felt like he couldn't be who he wanted to be. I really enjoyed the movie, I thought that if people really watch it and take in what is being learned or said that it can really move people. The impact it had on me, more now than ever is to not judge people for doing something that they find joy in. I would recommend this film for anyone who is very closed minded or feel like they don’t belong. I feel like high school is a place where people find out how cruel the world really is, before then it’s all happy dandy. I feel this movie should be shown to everyone, is it very impelling and will always be in remembrance of Robin Williams.

Dead Poets Society was a very well written movie, and I'd like to see it again sometime. Robin William's performance was amazing. My favorite thing about the movie was Carpe Diem, seize the day. I don't know really why, but I just like that phrase. The movie didn't have too big of an impact on me, maybe because I'm not the most focused during classroom movies, but next time I see it hopefully it will inspire me a little bit. I liked that the boys wanted to recreate the society. Neil's death was really saddening, and I'm upset on the way his father treated him. A theme I saw in the movie was individuality, and how you should be able to express that. When people aren't able to express who they truly are, their life can take a bad turn. I would highly recommend seeing this movie.

I remember watching 'Dead Poets Society' two years ago when I first took this class. I think Robin Williams includes a striking role as Mr. Keeding, a role unlike many of his comedic acts. The basis of the plot of a whole, I find rather stagnant. Perhaps it is just my preference in movies (myself being more of the adventuresome sort). The lack of action in the movie rather bores myself, but I can understand the appeal for those who are looking for a movie with a deeper meaning: finding a purpose in life. The pressure on teenagers to succeed in a life that's already been laid out for them, even with the differing time period, is something many can relate to, even adults. 'Dead Poets Society' shows the trepidation and bravery it takes to break away from the cycle of normalcy and how, for better or worse, it can change our lives.

I loved dead poets society. It was a very good movie. It really showed me that it can be hard to make your parent proud. That some parents expect so much from there child. That sometimes what the child want is pushed away and told to forget about it. I felt like he shouldn’t have killed himself. I can see how life can get to some people. We even see years later after the movie had been made . Robin Williams killed himself. Life got to him. The biggest theme was Carpe diem. Seize the day. This was huge this was taking life into your own hands and making it what you wanted it to be to make it something you have dreamed of. I wouldn’t say it inspired me to do anything but to look at life differently. To see it as something I hold. For me I would recommend this to anyone who felt like they were being pressed to hard who need to be inspired to be themselves and stand up to what is pushing them away from something they love

I did enjoy parts of this movie yes, at times it was a little boring, but overall it was a good movie. It was definitely not something I would rewatch or would have chose to watch on my own. It’s not really a genre I like though so if you’re into older movies or the English language, I would definitely recommend this film. The theme that impacted me the most is “carpe diem” or to seize the day. It really just means to live your best extraordinary life, live the life you want to live. I found as is the most influential theme because it’s a great theme to live by, it’s very inspiring. I would recommend this movie if I was recommending to someone I knew enjoyed these kind of movies. I do agree that it was good to watch at least once, but I know not everyone would agree with that statement after watching it. I could understand why people don’t enjoy this movie as much as others.

This movie is pretty great and very enjoyable. It's very well written and has a talented cast. Also the over all message of the movie is very pronounced but still impacting. It has made me think about my life and how I want to change it into something more and has inspired me a bit. The most impactful theme is of nonconformity and being yourself. It just shows you over and over again the boys trying to be themselves and repeatedly being put down. Their lives are ultimately better when they go their own way. This just hits home ever time.

First of all, I most definitely enjoyed the movie. It was one of those movies where after you watch it you put things in perspective. After I watched the movie all the way through for the first time, it was on my mind for days. Even now, a week later, it is still on my mind. Watching Dead Poets Society helped me remember that life is short, and precious, and should be valued. It inspired me to be the best version of myself no matter what people think, and to stand up for the people who are there for me. The theme of friendship, and being yourself, and the idea of teen suicide all had a big impact on me. They made me really put my life into perspective, and helped me to remember that I want my life to be worth living. Carpe Diem. I would 100% recommend this movie to anyone looking for something to watch, and all young adults and teenagers. The messages in the story are big and relevant and this movie helped express some of the worlds worst kinds of tragedies. It raises awareness, and is an overall good flick.

The classic, beloved movie, Dead Poets Society, was an enjoyable film. The movie was like a reminder to think outside of the box, and, of course, looks things differently. The character William Keating (played by Robin Williams) was especially inspiring because he inspired a group of boys, from a conservative boarding school, to defy their parents standards and think for themselves. A theme presented throughout the film was to seize the day, or carpe diem. This means to make the most of the present moment, and this was literally brought up throughout the film. This had a big impact on me because the short saying “carpe diem” can serve as a constant remind to live in the moment. I would 100% recommend this movie to anyone, because not only is it a classic that should be seen at least once in someone's life, but also its an astonishing, meaningful film.

I enjoyed the movie Dead Poets Society. In my opinion, the movie was very inspiring and meaningful. I believe the movie did a good job catching the audience's attention. This movie gives the key idea of always being true to yourself and what you wanna do. It gave an inspirational reminder to do something with your life, to not waste it waiting for other people’s approval. The movie also has a strong theme of individualism. The movie also showed that you must stand up for what is right, stand up for unfair treatment. Mr. Keating, gave very inspirational advice throughout the movie. I liked how Mr. Keating stood out. He was different than the other professors, actually teaching his students to think, rather than having their face shoved in books, memorizing meaningless things for hours at time. The ending of the movie was kinda abrupt, but the overall meaning that was embedded into the movie made the movie an overall good, enjoyable movie. I believe it was a element movie to watch in class, to give students a uplifting, inspirational message.

Other than the few themes I found, I also, just as you said, agree that the movie did well on touching on the subject of being true to yourself, which is something that you can find in most movies nowadays, but dead poets did present it in a way that was much more touching and resonating than others.

I thought that The Dead Poets Society was a heart wrenching movie. The plot of the movie was well thought out and the actors did a phenomenal job portraying the characters they were giving. I have watched this movie many times before and everytime I watch it, the movie gets better and better. I love the message that the movie sends to the audience. The movie’s message is standing up for one another. The main character, Neil, was pressured by his father to become a lawyer, but Neil felt that he couldn’t be happy if he was a lawyer. Neil’s true passion was to become an actor. Of course his father didn’t approve of this, so when Neil tells him that he got the lead role in a local production his father was not happy. Having all of the pressure of being the best Neil kills himself. The movie ends with the boys standing on top of their desk after their favorite teacher is fired. Not only were the boys standing up for Neil, but they were also standing up for the english teacher as well. Dead Poets Society is a heart whelming film that everyone must see.

I thought that Dead Poets Society was an inspirational movie that showed you the harsh reality that some children face. Dead Poets Society has many messages hidden within it, and it showed that it’s okay to step beyond the “normal” rules of life, to discover your own path, and be your own person. Dead Poets Society also showed that it should be okay to let your children or anyone in general to pursue their own path in life and not be limited when it comes to career choices and pursuing your life as you want. This movie is very inspirational, and could help people who are not willing to step out of their comfort zone and pursue their careers or life goals. I personally most likely wouldn’t rewatch this movie, but that said, I would recommend this movie to anyone, as its messages aren’t for a specific set of eyes, and it is also a very well put together film that many would enjoy.

Going into watching the movie, having no prior knowledge on what it was about, I was surprised to actually become interested in the plot, though at first I thought the story was a bit slow and lacked a very good introduction, it did take a turn for the better as the story progressed. I thought the characters each had their own diverse personality that clashed enough to make it interesting, but also enough so that it allowed viewers to see the bonds that had formed between them. The movie itself, especially the ending, did leave a few thoughts in my head, but I don’t think it truly impacted me in a way of sorts by covering something I didn’t already know, but I did enjoy it and definitely have thought about it since watching. Finishing the movie and reflecting on it, I found that my favorite theme was most definitely the struggle between personal want and the pressure of society, which I found to be most present and most interesting in Neil. Personally I think I like the topic so much because I believe that everyone can relate to that theme at one point in their life, though not to the extent of Neil, it still shows the pressure placed on kids and what people do to try and embrace who they are and the rejection they sometimes face. Considering all of this and all that was left out, I definitely do recommend the movie and suggest it to anyone looking for a good topic to watch.

I think that Dead Poets Society was up there on the list of my favorite movies, I personally didn't see why people would think that it is boring as I was entertained throughout the whole movie, and felt like I could relate to each of the characters. It definitely inspired me. I learned what not to do when people around me don't support what I am doing (if that thing is positive). If I am talented and passionate about a positive outlet then I should keep with it no matter what people say about it, and I know that if I do feel discouraged about my path in life I have a lot of people to support me if I need it. I also learned how import the art of literature is and how it has helped our society out, and pointed out an important part of life, taking what other people think into consideration, and bettering yourself with that knowledge. The negative things in this movie could have been avoided if people followed this idea, and I think today's world would benefit greatly from this idea. I would recommend this to a lot of people as it was very entertaining to me and I think that anyone could get something positive out of the message this story leaves you with.

I enjoyed the movie, and impact it had on me was the realization that anything can push someone over the edge, especially if they're not happy to start with. In this movie, it seemed to me that it was supposed to be saying that you should be happy doing whatever you want, rather it be acting like the main character in the movie, or being a doctor like his parents wanted him to be. But you should be happy and do what you want in life and not be pressured to do something you don't want to do by anyone, even if its your parents because this one person in life is the only one who is telling you that you can't. Because you will have supporters in life and you have to be one of those people to support yourself, because otherwise you wont be able to do it. This theme and message impacted me the most because my parents are the same way, they're very hard on me to accomplish everything and be the absolute best that there is. I think that society today should watch this movie, everyone should and should reflect on this because it has several messages in this movie that you can pick out and take from it.

I found the movie enjoyable, but as others have commented, it did start off kind of slow. I liked it when they met in the cave. That sort of recklessness is something that I occasionally wish I possessed. I a small way, I can relate to Neil. My parents are constantly pressing standards of excellence on me, and the pressure that creates can become unbearable.

I thought that the movie could have been a little more interactive with the audience other wise I like the movie. The movie gave me a nice feeling deep down there was something about the professor that I just liked. He had a sense of urgency that he needed to get the boys ready for the real world. The scene were all of them would say a part of the poem then would kick a ball I found that really funny but at the same time it was teaching the boys to be comfortable saying things allowed and expressing themselves. I would say that everyone should watch this movie at least once or twice.

I totally agree when you say the professor was setting them up for the real world. He did this in a multitude of ways like you explained which I believe why it holds such an impact on the boys. He shows they can do these things in everyday life.

I had already seen Dead Poets Society before watching it in class but it still holds the place of my favorite movie. I love all of the characters in the film as they are very relatable. All of the boys have something about them that makes them real. I love Mr. Keating as he is so inspiring and wise. I love that by the end of the movie the boys all trust him and trust themselves enough to do what they want. I love how inspiring this movie is and how it relates to everyone. everyone has that one thing that they want to do that they think is not possible until someone comes along and tells them that they can do anything. I think that this is a great film and that everyone should watch it when they are young to inspire them throughout life.

I agree with you that Mr. Keating was a very influential character throughout the movie. He helped the students to realize their place and that sometimes its okay to go against the standards of today. He helps the student experience life in a new perspective (literally and figuratively) and that really help build great character development!

I really enjoyed watching the movie, because i don't think I've ever seen one that similar to the movie.Similar in the way that it was written. Also it was just a very well made movie. It was pretty inspiring.I think the theme that had the most impact on me was the dreams, hopes, and plans theme.A lot of people have their own dreams, hopes, and plans, but sometimes never get to fulfill them because their parents influence them to do things that they either did or could not do. Another theme that had a lot of impact on me was family. Family can be bad and good but they are the ones that will influence you the most.I would really recommend this film to someone who likes writing and poems. But I also think people who don't necessarily like writing or things like that would enjoy it.

For starters I was really captivated by the movie, and quite frankly I didn't know it would ever have been this good. It did indeed have a major impact on me, to see other people think so deeply is quite refreshing, due to our modern day habit to only ever try to swim in the shallowest end of the mind. If I am being completely honest really, it makes me extremely jealous. I want a teacher to excite and inspire me like that, I don't want just another teacher that's trying to make it through the day, dragging their feet along the way. I want someone who digs deep into my peers and my own thoughts, ambitions, and dreams; not someone who just wants me to write them down. It saddens me that this type of classroom, or for goodness sake even just a group of young adults meeting together, is probably never going to be obtainable. There were several lessons I learned through the film, one of the most prominent being Carpe Diem. He also reminded me such as getting on your desk and taking a look on life at a different perspective, and how beneficial it can really be. I loved the film and I would recommend it to anyone, not just those who love literature.

I really did enjoy this movie. It definitely impacted me in many ways but the main thing that caught my attention was the on going theme of “carpe diem.” The thought of chasing your dreams no matter what it takes and making the day yours is something truly inspiring to me. These kids were pressured and their parents expected a lot from them, I don’t blame Neil for doing what he did although it was very heartbreaking. I feel like the movie is a huge eye opener to the reality we live in. These boys were so young and innocent yet they felt like they had to rebel because of how demanding their parents were and that’s totally understandable. I definitely didn’t like how they were expected to be the best and do the best and nothing less, it takes away from being able to live a “normal” teen life. I liked that the boys took it upon themselves to find something that could help them escape from reality (The Dead Poets Society) and I admire Neil’s bravery for continuing to pursue his dream in acting, of course until he tragically takes his own life away. This movie is a lesson and you gain something from watching it. I haven’t let go of the saying “Carpe diem” since we watched the movie and it’s become a part of my everyday life. I definitely recommend this move to anyone and everyone.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was a little quirky sometimes but the story line and plot was amazing, and compelling. I didn't really think that in the end it would have turned out as good as it actually was. The beginning didn't really catch my attention, it wasn't until a little later in the movie when I started to see the hidden messages in the poems and actions they were doing. I never expected it to take such a crazy turn at the end. In the beginning it made me think that Todd Anderson was going to be the main character but Neil turned out to be. I think that the Carpe Diem part really got me thinking. That was the most inspiring part of the movie. I think that the entire movie was based around the Carpe Diem movement, because each of them learned to just go for there dreams, to seize the day. That's what Neil did sadly it didn't turn out for him but it was still very inspiring. I would definitely highly recommend this film, especially for people that are taking a class like this. One where you might need a little inspiration to be able to create a very moving piece of writing.

I agree. I didn't think the movie would be very interesting (based on the title). As we continued the movie and the plot developed, it was very attention grabbing. I also liked the "carpe diem" part because oftentimes we get into the same daily routine and our lives slip away from us without even knowing it.

I really enjoyed the movie “Dead Poets Society.” Going into the movie, I didn’t think I would like it but I ended up being very interested in it. I think the movie impacted me because in the movie all of the boys were being taught that they had to be a doctor, lawyer, bank etc. I think the message of the movie was that you shouldn’t conform to society, which is really significant to me. I thought it was inspirational because it showed how characters like Neil Perry defied their parents dreams for them and pursued their own. There are many themes to “Dead Poets Society.” I think some would include “carpe diem” which means to seize the day. Other themes would be rebellion, mental health, conforming to society, and success. I would recommend this film because to anyone. It has many messages and everyone watching has a different perspective and it affects everyone differently.

I enjoyed the movie more than I thought, I went into the movie with no background knowledge on it at all. At first I thought the movie was kind of slow, but I soon realized every scene in the movie led up to something and all meant something in the end. It was very inspiring to see how much the boys evolved from being so sheltered from what their parents want, to branching out and finding it within themselves to do whatever they feel is right. I think one of the biggest themes that stuck out to me was what you do with your time from the day you’re born to the day you die. Considering the quote “Carpe diem” makes a regular appearance throughout the movie also makes this more apparent. The quote means “seize the day,” which is exactly what Mr. Keating was trying to get through to the group of boys. All Mr. Keating wanted was for the boys to “make their lives extraordinary.” I don’t think this film is for everyone, but I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I think there is a lot of messages in this movie that everyone can relate too.

Dead Poets Society is a very profound film, and I would recommend that everyone watch it at least once in their life. While some people might complain that it can be a bit slow to get started or the ending doesn't feel very satisfying, I believe that that is one of the film's best qualities. Sometimes in life you face hard problems and not all of your "plot threads" get tied up in a neat little bow, but that's perfectly fine. The movie ends with the students giving Mr. Keating a proper send off after he's fired, and that's where this movie's story ends, but the characters have only begun to take Mr. Keating's teachings to heart. Viewers can tell that the boys' morales have all changed from the beginning of the movie, and they'll go on to inspire people throughout their lives just as Mr. Keating inspired them. However, while this conclusion is realistic, it highlights a depressing truth: just because someone seizes the day and stands up for what they believe in, it doesn't necessarily mean that they'll succeed in getting what they want. Neil stood up for himself and participated in the play, but because he stood up against his father he was punished so severely that he felt no other option than to commit suicide. Mr. Keating taught students to think for themselves and be creative, but this only leads to him being fired by the end of the movie. However, I think that the way the students all stand up to send him off shows that, even though he wasn't able to completely change the minds of every student (considering some of the boys don't stand up) and he wasn't able to change the authoritative nature of the private school, Mr. Keating was able to leave a significant impact on a great number of people, and at the end of the day, all we can do is try to leave our impact on the world.

I really enjoyed watching dead poets society. I think that the story’s themes and morals of each character really stood out to the views and created a very interesting plot. This movie impacted me by showing me the effect of people not getting the support for the things they love. It showed me that at least someone needs to support them for their hobbies and not try to force them down other paths. There were multiple themes throughout the movie: friends and family, dreams, poetry, and tradition. I think the theme of tradition was the most visible to me. This is because the way the school handled the whole situation was how they always did and while traditions are nice, sometimes traditions need to change to adapt to the new society. I would recommend this film. Not only does it give previews to may well-known poems, it also shows how important reinforcement from friends and family is significant.

I really like the movie,i would really recommend the movie to other people only if you like emotional things like if you cry a lot than the movie is for you cause it was very heartbreaking when neil died i think that his father killed him because he pushed his son to hard and wouldn’t even let his son do the play.Mr. Keating inspired me because he was a really great teacher to his students and teaching them about poetry and teaches them about how to treat other people kindly and looks like they had tons of fun together.

Dead Poets Society really was nothing of what I expected. The movie sounded boring, but as the plot developed, you bagan to feel more interested in the characters and movie. This was a wonderful movie that had a really good meaning to it. I really did enjoy this movie because it was very well thought out and the actors did an absolutely amazing job with creating a character and I just feel like that adds so much more to a movie. I would definitely recommend this movie because it is super meaningful and very good. This movie was very inspirational. A theme that I think was found throughout this movie was don't be afraid to take risks. This was displayed multiple times throughout the movie when the characters do something they wouldn’t do. The characters say “Carpe Diem” to show this and acknowledge that they are stepping out of their comfort zone. I found this quite interesting and almost motivational.

My overall impression of the movie “Dead Poets Society” was that it appealed to the audience's emotions and made it feel as if we were one of the characters going along with them throughout their many journeys. The maker of the film really utilizes music to make the scene fit for example when the music played in the background during the Neil's suicide it made it very suspenseful. This movie inspires others to stay true to what you believe in and not to change due to other peoples opinions. The most impact scene from this movie is when Mr. K gives his lesson of Carpe diem and how we should live every day of each of our lives to the fullest. I would recommend this film, and I am glad that I was able to watch this movie because if it weren't for this class I wouldn't have even known that it existed.

I loved the movie, Dead Poets Society, it showed me a lot, and I enjoyed it a lot. Throughout the movie I was thinking that Neil was going to get to do what he wanted to do, that had a great impact on me, I thought he was going to go against his dad’s rules, which he kind of did, and succeed and have an amazing career in it. Something that it taught me was that loyalty can have a great impact on someone’s life, it could make them decide something very big. If Neil’s father believed in him more and let him go through with his dreams I think that would have changed the entire movie. One of the themes I thought of while watching the movie was one that I already said, loyalty is everything, it can have a huge impact on someone’s life. This was the theme that had the greatest impact on me. I think that loyalty can change how a person views others, through the loyalty of his students Mr. Keating left with a smile, even though one went against him before by the end he was back, that said a lot about him as a person and what he truly thinks. - 207 words

I have seen Dead Poets Society twice, and each time I enjoyed it. It's important to remember that everyone around us is an individual, and we can't always expect them to act as we see fit; sure, we can add pressure, and maybe that results in the actions we desire, but pressure builds up.

Although I had previously seen the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it again. The film portrays profound and meaningful themes in an ordinary, everyday life type of way. I appreciate that "carpe diem," although it might have been more cinematically demonstrated through intense action or drastic circumstances, was shown in the everyday, mundane life of school - something that everyone can relate to. The ending of the movie was hyper-realistic. The good people don't always win in our world, and I think it is important that this is portrayed in movies more often than it is. I would recommend that everyone watch this film because there is an abundance of lessons to be learned from it. It is up to you to seize the day and get everything you can out of this life, no matter the consequences. It was especially moving when the boys stood up on their desks as a final farewell to their teacher, despite their education being on the line. They did so out of honor, even though they knew that there was little chance of their stance changing anything or preventing the teacher from being fired.

While it's true, Mr.Keating was betrayed by some of his students and the school board, I think that the good he's done for most of his other students outweighed the betrayal by others. When his entire class stood up for him (literally) at the end of the movie, that showed how much he meant to those kids. If it were not for the grief and misunderstanding of Neil's parents, Mr.Keating's job would most likely have stayed intact.

I loved dead poets society. It was one of those movies that made you feel every emotion and it was great to get to see the perception of students with poetry at that time. It was very inspiring in a way that you wish you could have experienced that. I liked the fact that it showed the realness of the lives the students had, in a way it didn't hold back anything. I liked the movie in how in certain ways, the movie was relatable. The boys were restricted in ways that some people in the world might feel, they wanted individualism, which I think all people do. I would recommend this film to almost everyone of age who would understand it. When first starting the movie dead poets society I wasn't sure how I was going to feel. Although after one day into it I became very interested. I thought that it was very interesting and could teach people a lot of stuff. I liked how all of the kids went into the school for all different things and ended up taking a class with this teacher who changed a lot of their lives. I think that it has a strong impact on many people that watch it because when you have that one person whether it is a teacher or friend or whoever, they can change your life greatly. In dead poets society one of the main themes that came through to me was that you can be the person that changes someone else's life. This affects me because it encourages me to keep being an amazing person and impacts others' lives positively. I would definitely recommend this movie to people.

I loved this movie, I thought it was a very well thought about eventful movie that was extremely unpredictable. I thought the way that the characters stood with what they believed in and did what they wanted to do was compelling. I believe the message behind this movie was to inspire the audience to find what they enjoy to do no matter what others think. This movie impacted me to find a way of doing something I am extremely passionate about and stick with it no matter what others think. Although I cannot relate to the film in the way the boys were controlled by their parents to go down the career path they had chosen, I still am able to show empathy and understand how grateful I am to be able to choose my career path. I would recommend this film to very many people, so they can understand that the meaning of life is not to do what makes those around you happy but what makes you happy, along with understanding the purpose of life is not to do the job that will give you the most money, but the career you enjoy.

I really enjoyed watching this movie because it expresses themes and emotion in a very beautiful and poetic way. Ideas of personal growth, impact people have, and how we view the world around us are shown in ways that show their complexity but are still so simple. They are shown as beautiful and the importance of seeking the good in life and not taking everything at face value. The idea of questioning the people in charge and learning to look deeper in the meaning of things and why and how things happen are the themes that I really enjoyed. Learning to find value and daily and otherwise ordinary things. All these themes are expressed in beautiful and desirable ways. Until the very end when the harsh reality shows that even though we may do everything in order to be happy, the ways that other people impact us are ultimately the most important and that reality is not always how we picture it in our head. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to be moved and learn about seeing the world differently than the dull life we normally do.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought that it had really good writing and the characters were lovable and relatable. The movie made me really sad with Neil committing suicide, which is the only thing I can say I don't like about the movie, as a personal preference. In terms of story telling, it's all good though. Some of the themes I found presented through the film were that you should always have some medium to express yourself, trying new things is good, poetry is important, and you should always think about how other people feel. I think that the expressing yourself theme is the most impactful, because it was a constant throughout the movie. I would recommend this movie because it's just simply a good movie. It has all of the characteristics I like in a movie. It has nice pacing, compelling story and plot, an interesting setting, good characters, and intrinsic dialogue.

I really did enjoy watching the Dead poets Society movie for the little snippets of the movie that I saw! I had never seen the movie before this, so it was fun to watch it for the first time. I thought it was an interesting approach to have real life issues occur in the movie. I had seen the film once before but it was much more meaningful this second time. Mr. Keating is a true comfort character and I don't think he even knew how much he impacted the boy's lives; Knox using carpe diem to push himself to put himself out there for a girl he loved, Neil going out for this play because it is what he was passionate about, Todd leaving his comfort zone to embrace poetry and make new friends. This movie makes you want to live life to fullest and the ending made me cry this time. As much as I hate that the boys signed a paper that wrongly blamed Mr. Keating, it was realistic and emphasized his lesson on the inherent need to stick with the crowd. I would recommend this movie to anyone because its very well done and has impactful themes laced throughout; individualism, seizing the day, the value of a good teacher and good friends.

I think that Dead Poets Society was an overall great movie. As the movie progressed I began to grow somewhat of a relationship with the boys. The close tightness of the boys could really be felt throughout the whole movie and through the screen. I even found myself feeling and sharing their emotions of happiness, anger, and sadness. Although I really enjoyed the movie, I feel like if it had an alternate ending it could have been even better. For example, what would happen if we could have really seen what happened to Mr. Keating. Or what would have happened if we could have seen a more in depth impact that Neil’s death caused on the boys and the school The theme that impacted me the most was being yourself and breaking free from society’s opinions. This theme really stood out to me because it’s something that is very relatable to everyone at all stages of life. I would definitely recommend this movie to someone else because it’s very inspiring and has multiple themes that can resonate with everybody.

I liked the movie even though I couldn't really see it on the smartboard. It had a lot of different themes going on, like independence, control, love, and friendship. I think the movie was pretty impactful in how it showed the freedom that came with poetry and expressing yourself and it was especially impactful in the last 15 minutes of the movie. Robin William's character was inspiring and played with a lot of emotions that aren't normally seen in a Robin Williams role.Neil's choice to take his own life than live in a prison is a shocking and gut wrenching moment that really sticks with the audience. Though I am not into poetry, I can appreciate the beauty of the poems that they wrote and read. The theme of freedom really stuck out to me. The characters need to feel free, in poetry, in theater, in life, was deeply moving. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes emotionally passionate and tragic movies.
